A CAT killer could be on the loose in Kingsway, it is feared.
Three cats have been found dead with blood coming from their mouths in just two days.
And cat lovers on the estate fear someone may be using antifreeze to bump off the felines.
Five cats owned by Dawn Hodges, of Wattisham Road, are being kept under close guard after she made two gruesome discoveries on her street and another on Boddington Drive two days earlier.
The 41-year-old said: "It's so sad. It looks like they have all eaten something which has killed them.
"We have a lot of strays roaming around the estate and it could be that someone has taken a disliking to them.
"I'm quite worried about it because of my own cats. Luckily they don't go too far from home and they come in at night but I'd hate for something to happen to them, they are part of the family. They are my babies at the end of the day.
"I just don't know why someone would want to do something like this."
Several cat owners in the area are said to be concerned about the recent events.
Fellow cat owner Andy Luckman said: "It sickens me that we seem to have so many of these cruel deaths, possibly deliberately by some nasty sadist.
"I think most of these poisons turn out to be from antifreeze. It has a sweet smell and taste, for some reason animals seem drawn to it."
Drivers are recommended to check their cooling systems to make sure that they are not leaking as this can also lead to pools of antifreeze being left on the road, which cats can then drink.
Mr Luckman has even gone as far as stocking a non-toxic coolant at the AJL Electronics store, which he runs on Bristol Road.
He said: "It is not really in our normal line of business but I decided to become a stockist and attempt to spread the word about it."
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said that they take the issue seriously. He said: "We have carried out joint investigations with the RSPCA in the past."
