It will be animals galore and paintbrushes at the ready at Gloucester Waterways Museum this half-term.
For the museum's education team have created a packed schedule of fun activities for families – all included within the museum's normal admission price!
Youngsters who like to get up close and personal with animals will want to pop along to see birds of prey (Tuesday February 12) and pygmy goats (Wednesday February 13).
Experts from Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust have teamed up with the museum to stage an illustrated talk on birds and animals that can be found in and around the UK's canals and rivers on Wednesday February 13 between 11am – 12noon.
For children that prefer the whizz and bang of wonderful machines the steam crane and famous steam dredger will be in operation throughout the day on Wednesday February 13 too with engineering volunteers on hand to explain how they work and how they were used at Gloucester Docks.
Crafty kids can roll their sleeves up and get involved in lots to make and do activities including tissue paper posies in time for Valentine's Day, brass rubbing and canal barge decoration.
Saturday February 16 will see Tony Watkins stage a drop-in roses and castles painting workshop for budding canalware artists. Families will be given step-by-step instructions of how to adorn a paper plate with this pretty painting technique which they can take home as a keepsake of the day.
