A woman has been sexually assaulted near Matalan in Cheltenham.
Between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday the woman, 22, was walking along Brunswick Street, near to Matalan, when a man approached her from behind and asked for directions.
He then pushed the woman, attempted to remove her clothes and sexually assaulted her before running off.
The suspect is described as being in his mid 20s, with dark hair and some facial hair and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark coloured top and jeans.
Detective Inspector Ruth Mather, who is leading the investigation, said: "We understand that this will be very worrying for the local community. We would reassure them that we are doing all we can to find this man and to bring him to justice.
"The community can help us with this investigation by thinking back to the early hours of Sunday morning if they were in the Brunswick Street area, perhaps driving or walking through the area on the way back from a night out.
"In particular we would like to speak to a cyclist who was seen cycling along Swindon Road and onto St Margarets Road at around 3.40am.
"We'd ask this cyclist or anyone who say anything suspicious in the area to please call us on 101, no matter how small or insignificant the information may seem."
