TWO Pittville School teachers, Mr Litherland and Miss Simeon, took part in a 19-mile race in January to raise money for the school.
The money raised will help contribute towards activities and trips for current and future students at Pittville.
The race itself started in the scenic village of Naunton, taking in quite a few hills and valleys in the Cotswold countryside.
Many people came to watch the long race on the sunny Sunday.
It was not a race for the faint-hearted.
All competitors had to carry a survival kit with them, containing a map, a phone, drinks and food in case something happened to them.
We asked Mr Litherland why he had agreed to put himself through such a gruelling experience.
He said: "I want to raise money for school trips at Pittville School for two reasons.
"Firstly, I realise that running every school trip is a risk as prices can fluctuate so often trips are under budgeted and can be jeopardised.
"Secondly, I think as a school we are apprehensive of running trips because we feel the students parents and guardians haven't got the financial backing that other schools have.
"This money could be used to subsidise or even allow students that wouldn't be able to finance trips to attend."
Enjoyment
After the race he said he had really enjoyed himself.
Miss Simeon also agreed it had been a good run, even though it had been tiring.
Now the first race has been run, Mr Litherland is trying to encourage more staff to take part in fundraising runs in the coming months and follow in his running footsteps.
Hopefully more money will be raised and students at Pittville will see the benefits of their teachers' hard work in the range of trips the school is able to provide.
