RICHMOND 53 CINDERFORD 20
INJURY-hit Cinderford suffered their worst defeat of the season after former Premiership side Richmond smashed seven tries past the limping Foresters.
The Dockham Road outfit went down to 14 men with a quarter of the game left after prop Nick Selway went off injured but the contest was already over at that point.
Andy Deacon's men have now lost five times in their last six National One games despite grabbing the opening try of the game.
Cinderford's forwards gained no purchase up front on 14 minutes letting the backs have a go with Jack Adams' fantastic long pass putting wing Lloyd Stapleton in at the corner.
Fly-half Mark Davies could not improve before Richmond enjoyed a good spell of pressure in the visitors' 22, earning them a penalty which full-back Tom Platt landed on 20 minutes.
The home side came straight back again with outside centre Tobias Quarendon slipping through tackles and firing a pass wide for wing James Greenwood to dot down two minutes later.
Platt made it 10-5 before things got worse for Cinderford when wing Nev Codlin was sin binned in front of the posts for killing the ball on 27 minutes after another Richmond line break.
Platt rubbed salt in even further before Quarendon burst through another midfield gap on half an hour and fed Greenwood who chipped over with Platt eventually diving under the posts.
Platt converted for 20-5 before a concerted period of Cinderford pressure could not bring a breakthrough on Richmond's line with Davies settling for a penalty for 20-8 at half-time.
After two minutes slow Cinderford ball was turned over at halfway and Richmond inside centre Tom Gregory slipped through tackles before feeding supporting wing Will Browne to score with Platt converting.
But the Foresters hit straight back three minutes later when Codlin shrugged off the tackles to slam down in the corner with Davies brilliantly converting from the touchline for 27-15.
Richmond were then held up over Cinderford's line on 58 minutes but from the five-metre scrum the away side wheeled it and the referee awarded a penalty try which Platt converted for a bonus.
Having used all of their replacements, Cinderford then lost Selway on the hour with just 19 points between the teams at that moment.
From an uncontested five-metre scrum Richmond replacement scrum-half Robert Shaw darted over on 72 minutes and Platt impressively converted to pull clear at 41-15.
Cinderford went on the attack again and Davies threw a long pass wide to Codlin on 75 minutes and the winger bounced off a tackle to score but Davies missed the extras.
With the Foresters' catch and drive lineout looking like rumbling over, the ball was turned over and Greenwood was released to sprint 80 metres to score but Platt was off target.
Richmond replacement Tom George then brought Cinderford's misery to an end when he stole over under the posts in added time with Platt easily converting.
