Roads in Gloucestershire remain treacherous this morning with snow and ice, with police warning motorists to take extra care on steep slopes.
People across the county woke up this morning to a white blanket covering fields and roads following several inches of snowfall yesterday.
It has caused chaos on the roads with motorists forced to slow down to a crawl.
This morning police said several routes are hazardous and should be avoided.
They include:
• A419 Little Witcombe
• A435 Cirencester to Cheltenham
• A435 Charlton Kings to Seven Springs
• Unclassified road between Nailsworth and Minchinhampton
• Parliament Street, Stroud
• A429 Fossebridge
• A436 Birdlip to Seven Springs
• A417 Birdlip Hill
• B4362 Cleeve Hill
• Culver Hill, Amberley
Inspector Andy Morford said: "Most major routes are now open and can be used by normal vehicles. However, the A429 around Stow on the Wold remains problematic and should be avoided.
"Many rural steep hills, minor roads and housing estates remain treacherous and drivers should take extreme care or avoid ungritted roads.
"Conditions on such roads are unlikely to improve whilst the temperature remains close to freezing."
County council gritting teams were out overnight attempting to make sure major routes were as safe as possible.
John Kay, area highways manager, said: "We're not expecting anything more than a few flurries of snow across the county today and into tomorrow, but consistently low temperatures this weekend will contribute to icy conditions on the roads.
"We will be continuing to treat major and secondary roads across Gloucestershire and we would urge drivers and pedestrians to be careful as the network begins to return to normal. We are also fully prepared if the weather worsens again."
More snow flurries are expected to hit Gloucestershire this weekend as temperatures dip below freezing.
The scenes will have sparked excitement among many, who will be dashing out to make the most of a weekend of sledging, snowball fights and the latest craze - building snow animals.
Met Office weather experts say there could be light flurries of snow in parts of the county later today with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark.
Overnight it could drop to -3 C and more snow is forecast for tomorrow and Monday.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue crews will continue to be on standby throughout the weekend, with 4x4 emergency response vehicles ready to react.
Meanwhile, the county's five household recycling centres are now open for business, though they may close slightly earlier than usual because of the weather conditions.
