Morecambe 0 Cheltenham Town 0 Cheltenham Town produced a far more solid defensive performance on the road to return home from Morecambe with a point. It was their second draw in a row, but a far more satisfactory result than last Saturday's 1-1 home point against York City. The only disappointment on a bitterly cold night was that Mark Yates' side failed to make the superiority count as their lack of firepower was once again highlighted at the Globe Arena. Cheltenham felt they should have been awarded a penalty when Sam Deering was caught by Andrew Fleming in the 42nd minute, but nothing was given. On a poor playing surface it was never going to be a classic, but Cheltenham created the better chances and Barry Roche had to be at his best to keep them out on several occasions. Yates made three changes to his side, with Kaid Mohamed, Jermaine McGlashan and Deering replacing Jeff Goulding, Jake Taylor and the injured Darren Carter. Carter's absence meant there were only six players on the bench for Cheltenham, including youth team midfielder Joe Hanks. Deering was lively on the left, with Mohamed up front, just off Shaun Harrad. Morecambe: B Roche; W Haining, C McCready, N Fenton, R Threlfall; C McDonald, S Drummond, A Fleming (R Williams 75); L Alessandra, J Burrow (C Holroyd 67), K Ellison. Subs not used: A Arestidou, J McGee, M Mwasile, C Doyle, J Redshaw. Cheltenham Town: S Brown; S Jombati, K Lowe, S Elliott, B Jones; J McGlashan, R Penn, M Pack, S Deering, K Mohamed, S Harrad (D Duffy 81). Subs not used: J Goulding, C Roberts, A Bennett, J Taylor, J Hanks. Referee: E Ilderton. Attendance: 1,586. To see how the evening's events unfolded, click below:
