TROOPS from the Innsworth based Allied Rapid Reaction Corps have celebrated their official new NATO duties with a ceremony and parade at Imjin Barracks.
Soldiers from ARRC will join NATO's response force this year and could be deployed to any NATO baked operation around the world at a moments notice.
They will join a 25,000 strong force at NATO's disposal to tackle crisis management or help stabilise situations.
Although 60 per cent of ARRC is from the UK, the multi-national unit is made up of representatives from15 other nations.
Deputy Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, General Sir Richard Shirreff, said: "We know the ARRC is a premier league organisation. NATO now has a command and control capability that is flexible, adaptable and responsive."
Photos of the day will be in tomorrow's Citizen.
