DANGEROUS speeding traffic near a Cotswolds school looks set to be checked.

Responding to a petition by Chipping Campden resident and former mayor Ann Taylor, Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown called an on-site meeting to discuss the issue on Station Road and the narrow footpath used by main school students.

Headteacher John Sanderson and residents turned out to meet Gloucestershire highways manager Bob Skillern. The group clocked speeding vehicles and the danger of the path, obscured by overgrown bushes. Problems are also sparked by parents parking too close to a dangerous bend.

Mr Skillern pledged to look at painting zig-zag lines to discourage parking, digging out and cutting back overgrowth to restore the footpath and erect more 30mph repeater signs. Mr Clifton-Brown said: "I hope these measures will be introduced and have a significant effect in slowing traffic down, as I fear someone could be injured."
