Refurbishment works at two Gloucester libraries mean they will be closed for a week.
Matson and Tuffley libraries will both be closed for a week from Monday, January 14 whilst improvements are carried out.
They will re-open on Monday, January 21.
The library is having a self service kiosk installed to enable customers to serve themselves.
The 'quick serve' kiosk will allow customers to borrow, renew and return items, check reservations and pay charges without waiting for a member of staff to assist them.
The library will also be getting a self-service PC so customers can make computer bookings and reserve books and other stock quickly and easily without having to queue at the counter.
The changes are part of Gloucestershire County Council's bid to improve access to library services through technology.
They hope to encourage library users to carry out their own transactions with library, council and other services.
During the closure, books and other items can be returned to any other Gloucestershire library or renewed via the customer contact centre by calling them on 0845 230 5420.
Library users are also advised that they can use the website at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries
