LEICESTER TIGERS 17 GLOUCESTER 12
LAST-DITCH heroics came to nought as Gloucester could not steal a match-winning try with a late flurry in a hectic Welford Road Premiership clash.
Former Gloucester centre Anthony Allen claimed the game's sole and match-winning try, as both sides struggled for accuracy in horrid conditions.
Gloucester had Shaun Knight and Will James sin-binned, while Leicester suffered yellow-cards for Ben Youngs and George Ford.
Despite battling for field position and territory for much of the match – and certainly the first half – Gloucester always kept themselves in with a shout.
Four penalties from Freddie Burns ensured the visitors were never out of touch.
Three George Ford penalties and one for full-back Geordan Murphy kept the Tigers ticking over though.
And in the end Allen's try was enough to subdue the Kingsholm men.
But with time running out, Gloucester launched their finest move of the match.
Sione Kalamafoni and Matt Cox combined with quick hands to send Shane Monahan from one 22 to the other.
Dan Robson then sold Logovi'i Mulipola a fine dummy to race to the whitewash.
But despite a host of phases, a tap penalty that they fired crossfield – and another penalty from a scrum – the Cherry and Whites were unable to steal the spoils at the death.
