Heavy rains and strong winds battled Gloucestershire over night.
The bad weather is expected to continue today, leading to more flooding fears in Cirencester and Tewkesbury.
The Met Office predicts heavy showers, with sunny intervals throughout the day, with less rain forecast for tomorrow.
2012 has now been recorded as the wettest year since records began.
Strong winds will remain over the next couple of day and could reach 20mph tomorrow.
Temperatures are due to plummet overnight, so Gloucestershire Highways officers will be out gritting today.
Cheltenham Town Football Club's match against Bristol Rovers is cancelled because of the wet weather as the Whaddon Road pitch is waterlogged.
Cheltenham Racecourse will be checking the state of its grass tomorrow to see if the New Year's Day races can go ahead as planned.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Gloucestershire. A Yellow warning of rain is in place.
The Met Office's website says: "A period of rain, heavy at times, will move slowly eastwards across the UK during Friday night and Saturday.
"Western regions can expect a period of persistent heavy rain, particularly over high ground, and the public should be aware of possible disruption due to localised flooding."
The Environment Agency has flood warnings in place for: The River Severn at Gloucester, Maisemore, Sandhurst and Hempsted The River Frome at Chalford. The River Wye in Gloucestershire.
A flood alert has also been put in place at River Lyd and Cinderford Brook this morning by the agency.
The wet weather is also hitting roads with the A417 in Maisemore closed in both directions around The Rudge junction and B4213 in Tirley closed in both directions between the Ham Road junction and the Wick Lane junction, both because of flooding.
In Stroud water levels are said to be slowly reducing, but road closures are still in place.
Downton Road and Leonard Stanley did re-open this morning.
Gloucestershire Highways is warning motorists to leave flood signs in place as "several" have had to be replaced today.
