Record numbers at Winston's Wish Boxing Day challenge

MORE than 900 runners spent Boxing Day running off their Christmas dinners and raising money for charity.
Organised by professional middle-distance runner James Brewer, a record crowd of 902 runners were at Cheltenham Racecourse for the Boxing Day challenge, a two or four mile run to raise money for Winston's Wish.
The Cheltenham-based charity supports bereaved children and their families.
The run kicked off at 10.30am, with nearly 300 more people than last year.
Registration cost £5, and the day raised £5096 for the charity.
James said: "The event had so many more people this year. It was just brilliant.
"We had a great race at the front, and right through there were people from all age groups, from the kids to grandparents.
"It is fast becoming a part of people's Christmas schedule."
Sally Gillespie, community fundraiser at Winston's Wish, said: "It was our biggest and most attended one so far.
"It was amazing. The run is a family event, and everyone was having a good time.
"It was a great opportunity to shake off the festive cobwebs."
