WATERBABY Paddy Finlay  spent his Christmas Eve swimming half a mile for charity.
The five-year-old completed 32 lengths at Brockworth Enterprise School to raise almost £500 for Kate's Home Nursing.
Staff from the Stow on the Wold organisation nursed his granny Vivien Tobin last year.
The Finlay family from Leckhampton has been raising money to support them ever since.
Paddy, a pupil at The Richard Pate School, dove into the pool in Mill Lane at 8.30am on December 24.
He has swimming lessons there but the furthest he has swum before is quarter of a mile.
He completed his challenge in 35 minutes cheered on by mum Hilary, dad Matt, younger brother Freddie, three and Heather Mitchell from the charity.
Paddy said he felt 'a bit puffed out' after his half a mile challenge and thanked everyone who had supported him.
Mum Hilary said: "He was very pleased to complete it and we are very proud of him."
