Motorists were temporarily trapped inside their vehicles following a collision on the M5, amidst treacherous driving conditions.
Fire fighters were called out to the accident, which took place between junctions 11a and 12 shortly before 4pm on Saturday.
On arrival crews found an overturned van and two other vehicles.
However, passengers involved in the accident were released from their vehicles unscathed.
Police later issued a warning about heavy hail fall, calling on motorists to drive with caution.
"Fortunately no one was seriously injured in this accident," said a force spokeswoman.
"It looks as if surface water on the road may have been a contributing factor in the collision."
