Police divers are centering on the canal in Stroud as the search for a missing man is stepped up.
George Ford, 20, was last seen when he walked out of his family's Slad Road home at around 3am on Sunday.
Gloucestershire Constabulary said yesterday they had made a nationwide appeal to track down the Nottingham University student.
A specialist team of divers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary is currently at Wallbridge.
"Avon and Somerset Constabulary's dive team is currently supporting Gloucestershire Constabulary in connection with the search for missing man George Ford," said a Gloucestershire police spokeswoman. "Mr Ford's family is aware, and other lines of inquiry are continuing."
Police are working urgently to trace George because of concerns for his wellbeing. Anyone with information should ring police on 101.
