Shoppers hoping to get a last minute Christmas bargain from Comet were left disappointed this morning.
Stores across the country shut their doors for the last time today after the electrical retail chain was unable to find a buyer.
Stock was sold off for bargain prices in many of its shops before the national chain, which employed 5,000 people in the UK, closed down for good.
The Cheltenham store on Tewkesbury Road shut on Friday.
Plenty of shoppers still went to the store at Gallagher Retail Park in the hope it would still be open, but were left disappointed this morning.
Suzanne Green was one of those shoppers.
She said: "I was hoping to get a last minute bargain, but I wasn't relying on it for Christmas so it is not a massive problem that it did shut earlier than some of them.
"It is such a shame to see another big name close down, but I guess it is the times – everyone goes online now.
"I just feel really sorry for the staff losing their jobs so close to Christmas. It must be hard for them."
The retail group went into administration in November and has been unable to find a buyer.
The Gloucester branch also closed.
A spokesman for Dreams, located next to Comet in Cheltenham, said the store finally closed on Friday.
He said: "We had a lot of people coming in on Saturday hoping that it would still be open and a lot of people have been driving up and turning around today."
