WITH a large military population living in Kingsway, the estate's pub the Barn Owl could think of no better charity to fundraise for than Help for Heroes.
The pub is celebrating a year since it first opened its doors and hosting a night of entertainment featuring Bristol-based singer Rachel Lea.
A Christmas hamper raffle with a raft of top prizes is up for grabs including tickets to the rugby and cricket and free petrol.
Henry Sills, one of the managers, said: "We are celebrating our first year and we wanted to give something back so we asked the people of Kingsway what we should do.
"They told us that because there's a lot of military people living here it would be good to do something for Help for Heroes."
The event takes place on Wednesday at 7.30pm at the pub on Thatcham Avenue.
