Many Gloucestershire singletons are probably growing weary of the love in the air this Valentine's Day.

Guys, you have two choices. Either you embrace the day and make it your own or write it off altogether.

While many will be going out for romantic meals and waiting in anticipation for a proposal, those who hate the occasion need not despair.

  • 1) Whether you're male or female, hit the town, have a good old knees up and, you never know, you may well just find that special somebody…if only for a couple of hours.
  • 2) Get in the supplies; beer, wine, curry, chocolate and a whole raft of DVDs and batten down the hatches.
  • 3) Avoid watching 50 Shades of Grey and anything starring Hugh Grant or Gwyneth Paltrow.
  • 4) Do not go on Facebook. There are countless messages to 'the bestestest hubby or wife in the world' which may turn your stomach.
  • 5) Watch all the Six Nations rugby games this weekend.
  • 6) Watch as many FA Cup games as possible today.
  • 7) Go to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Wallsworth Hall.
  • 8) Take some mates to Go Ape in the Forest of Dean.
  • 9) It could be the time to shamelessly take advantage of others frustrated by the lack of romance on Tinder, Plenty of Fish etc.

Alternatively, try some of these unromantic films for size....

Scream

The Last House on the Left
