Dan Robson has put Gloucester on Freddie Burns alert ahead of Friday's Premiership clash with Leicester Tigers.

The former Kingsholm favourite has failed to hit the heights at Welford Road but has begun to find some form and has been passed fit for a showdown with the Cherry and Whites.

Leicester had feared a fly-half injury crisis after Burns pulled out of last week's LV=Cup victory over Cardiff Blues and Owen Williams twisted a knee.

But after being given the all clear, Robson has pointed to his former teammate as a major threat and called on Gloucester to get stuck into him.

Robson said: "As always Freddie will be a massive threat because he's a class player. He has shown it that here at Gloucester and he's shown it at Leicester in the last few weeks.

"He's come into some real form. We have to be sharp and keep an eye on him just like we did when they came here.

"We have to pressure him and get our line speed going. For 80 minutes you are enemies in rugby and you go at each other but after the game you shake hands and have a laugh.

"So we will be going at each other and trying to disrupt their team and Freddie as much as possible."

Gloucester have won all six of their matches in all competitions in 2015 and are aiming to climb the Premiership table.

They have not triumphed at Welford Road in their last seven attempts but spirits are high and the Cherry and Whites are braced for a ferocious physical challenge.

Robson said: "We're in a positive mood, getting six wins on the bounce is always good and the last couple at home gives us a real boost and that confidence. There is no bigger test than Welford Road on Friday and the boys are looking forward to it.

"Form goes out of the window when you go there, you just have to turn up and give it everything.

"Leicester always present that physicality and we will be ready for them. We have to battle hard for each other and hopefully a few bounces of the ball will go our way and we can come away with a good result.

"It will be tough but the boys have worked really hard and we will be ready for them. The boys are pumped, especially up front, they know the job at hand and we're confident."

Robson is set to be given the nod for the clash and he knows forward superiority will be integral to greater success on both a collective and personal level.

The 22-year-old, who will join Wasps in the summer, has been in fine form in recent weeks, touching down three tries in his last four matches. Callum Braley is likely to deputise and Robson admits that competition is driving him on.

He added: "If you're on the back foot in any game it's always difficult as a half-back pairing and that's where your kicking game comes in. We have to put the boys in the right position and flip it onto them.

"Hopefully I get the nod but Callum (Braley) and I have to keep going because it's a busy two weeks with Greig being away so we have to work hard.

"I have a lot of respect for him, we work hard together and push each other which is good and what you need in any team and in any position."
