Hucclecote 42
Oldham 40
Hucclecote inflicted a first defeat of the season on National Premier Division One champions Oldham.
In the reverse fixture earlier in the season Oldham won by a 24-goal margin but it was a different story this time around.
Oldham's confidence showed early on as they started strongly and established a five-goal lead.
But Rosie Allison was on top form for Hucclecote, netting 18/19 goals in the first half to cut the deficit to only three by half time. Hucclecote could
quite easily have been in the lead at this stage if it had not been for their error rate taking the ball through court.
During the next quarter, this improved abut they were unable to eat into the three-goal deficit.
With the crowd at cheltenham College cheering them on, Hucclecote found another gear, chipping away at Oldham's slim lead.
With five minutes to go the home team finally took the lead for the first time in the match.
Sam Cook at GK was in outstanding form, tipping and intercepting any loose ball and putting immense pressure on Oldham's shooters as they converted only five from nine attempts in the final quarter.
With captain Jack Gabriel taking control mid-court and urging her team to remain calm and hold onto possession, the home side clung on for a fabulous win.
Oldham remain top despite the defeat while the five points consolidate Hucclecote in fourth spot.
Hucclecote Stars also enjoyed success against Team Bath in the South West Regional Division One.
Stars emerged narrow winners earlier in the season but this time around they dominated throughout and raced to a 61-29 victory to remain in second place in the table.
