RUGBY players touched by the plight of a team mate with leukaemia had a close shave to raise thousands for a charity which helped him in his hour of need.
The charity head shave at Marling School, Stroud on Friday, December 7, involved students in the rugby team and teacher Tim Byford, to say thanks and raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust which is supporting student Will Smith.
"I was diagnosed with leukaemia on October 10 and spent the first three weeks receiving treatment in hospital where the support of the Teenage Cancer Trust was incredible," said  Will.
For the event on Friday, professional hairdressers Jenny Perrins and Robert Honey from the Gyles Allen salon  in Nailsworth were drafted in.
So far £2,300 has been raised and the figure is rising all the time towards a target of £2,500.
