Effective communications and marketing is essential for the success of the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership.
Bringing together teams from Gloucestershire Police, the county council and Gloucestershire Fire&Rescue, the partnership is committed to making every journey in the county as safe as possible.
And responsible for putting the message across is the Road Safety Partnership's Public Engagement team including Natalie Oakley, Ruth Griffiths and Michelle Vieira.
Now the Partnership has entered the Communicator of the Year category of the Echo and Citizen's 2015 Women in Business Awards.
The Partnership has had an excellent year in communications delivery. This has included re-launching its online arm www.roadsafery-gloucestershire.gov.uk with a big increase in users.
Also, it has worked with other partners to deliver the road safety message direct to high risk driver groups with a Drive for Life event for students organised with Gloucestershire College.
Some 95 per cent of students agreed that the programme had given them the skills to ask a driver or passenger to change their behaviour.
The Road Safety Partnership's campaign to combat drink driving won a WIB 2014 Marketing Campaign of the Year award. there was also a focus on motorcyclists and cyclists who were being hit by drivers called The Invisibles.
The campaign resulted in several road safety organisations adopting the model. The new communications initiatives of the Partnership have been recognised regionally and nationally.
The Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen's sixth Women in Business Awards will be turning the spotlight on the women who are championing the county's business scene.
It will all culminate in a glittering awards evening at the Centaur at Cheltenham racecourse, when all the winners will be announced.
This year there are ten categories. They are Business Woman of the Year; Female Apprentice; Young Entrepreneur; Mentor of the Year; Contribution to the Community; Family Business; Communicator of the Year; New Business; Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Once again Grundon Waste Management is the title sponsor. HRML, the Gloucestershire-based HR and employment law specialist, is sponsoring the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. For full details and how to enter visit gloucestershireecho.co.uk/wiba or gloucestercitizen.co.uk/wiba
