Police are searching for a machete with a 2-foot blade which they believe was used to kill teenager Zac Evans during an attack outside a Gloucester pub in the early hours of this morning.
The 19-year-old was attacked outside The Pike and Musket in Tuffley around 12.30am and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man, aged 22, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with serious injuries, where he underwent surgery. He is now in a stable condition. A third, 18-year-old local man, sustained minor injuries.
A local man was arrested on suspicion of murder around 2.30pm today.
At a press conference held at Gloucestershire Constabulary HQ this evening, Detective Inspector Steve Porter said the police were still searching for the suspected murder weapon.
He said: "During the investigation a local man at just after 2.30pm this afternoon was arrested on suspicion of murder. Enquiries are continuing and interviews will take place however we are very keen to recover a weapon we believe was used at the scene.
"It can best be described as a machete at least 2-foot in length and we would appeal to anyone with information in relation to what occurred this morning or anyone with any knowledge of why this incident occurred and particularly anyone who knows the whereabouts of the weapon to please contact us as soon as possible."
DCI Porter said that the motive for the attack was unclear and that they have no knowledge of why the attack took place.
He also said there will be extra patrols in the Tuffley area to reassure residents.
