Matt Kvesic is aiming to transfer his Cherry and White form to a Red Rose jersey when England Saxons take on the Irish Wolfhounds next Friday.

The 22-year-old flanker was named in Jon Callard's squad earlier this week and signed off from domestic action with another stellar performance.

Kvesic picked up yet another man-of-the-match award and took his try-tally for the season to five with a brace in Gloucester's 31-20 victory over Brive on Thursday night.

He said: "One of them wasn't really mine, I just sat at the back and let the pack do the rest of the work. The other one was good work from Bill and I picked on the 10.

"It's good to be involved with the Saxons, it's a really strong squad and it's an honour to be picked.

"Hopefully I can go out and continue some of the form I've been having with Gloucester.

"I'm pretty pleased with the way it's been going recently and if I can transfer that to the game against the Wolfhounds then that will be great. It will be a good test which I'm looking forward to.

"The new coaching set-up and the way we have been playing with the pack being a bit more dominant obviously helps and personally I'm a bit more relaxed and I'm not trying to do too much.

"Discipline has been a lot better and I'm enjoying my rugby. It's a good group, not to say last year's wasn't, but I'm enjoying it and week in week out we are only scratching the surface in terms of where we can go."

The victory over the 1997 Heineken Cup champions at their Stade Amédée-Domenech home ensured Gloucester finished the pool stages as top seeds.

They took 29 points from a maximum 30 in Pool Five and will host a Kingsholm quarter-final on the first weekend of April.

Kvesic admits it was frustrating at times but he was satisfied with the final result and hopes momentum can be maintained through the LV=Cup following a bright start to 2015.

Gloucester face the Ospreys in the next round of the Anglo-Welsh Cup at Kingsholm on Saturday (3pm).

He added: "We knew it would be a tough game as it always is against a French team on their home ground.

"We didn't play particularly well, we did some really good things and some really poor things but, all in all, it's job done, we've got five points and topped the group.

"Our scrum dominance was really good and sometimes that can be negative because it's quite hard to control the scrum and keep it up when they're trying to drop it.

"We knew the scrums would be a massive factor, the French love a scrum but that's an area we wanted to dominate. There were a few yellow cards but that will always happen in a scrappy game.

"We struggled a bit to get into shape and credit to them their a good defensive side, their work at the breakdown was good and we were probably a yard off the pace.

"But winning away in France is great and we want to keep momentum going. We've had two good wins in the Premiership, two good wins in Europe and if we can back that up in the LV=Cup we can take it back into the Premiership."
